Dr. Priya Narasimhan leads the technology and business development of BeaconSys, Inc. She was the co-founder, CTO and Vice-President of Engineering of Eternal Systems, Inc. (now Availigent) from 1999-2001. She is currently an Associate Professor of Electrical & Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University, with 14 years of research experience and 60+ publications in computer systems (including embedded, mobile and distributed technologies), and has won numerous awards including the Alfred Sloan Fellowship, the NSF Career Award, two IBM Faculty Partnership Awards and the Lancaster Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award.
Dr. Rajeev GandhiDr. Rajeev Gandhi leads the technology and business development of BeaconSys, Inc. He has industrial experience in wireless technologies, with prior start-up experience in Fujant, Inc. and later in Motorola's Broadband Communications Division in San Diego, CA. He was also involved in the H.264 video-compression standardization activity. He is currently a Systems Faculty in Electrical & Computer Engineering and Information Networking Institute at Carnegie Mellon, with 14 years of research experience in the areas of embedded systems, signal, image and video processing.
Dan RossiDan Rossi has been instrumental in the design of the various products of BeaconSys, Inc., and being blind since a young age, he has strived to ensure that the company's products meet the needs of the visually impaired. He currently serves on the Board of Directors at the Blind and Vision Rehabilitation Services of Pittsburgh. He has earned a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, where he now works as the Oracle Database Administrator. Amongst his many adventures, he has climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain in Africa, and is an avid skydiver in his spare time.
Ross KukulinskiRoss Kukulinski leads the product development of BeaconSys, Inc., and is also the Lead Architect of CurrencyIdent, the company's cellphone-based currency identification product. He has prior entrepreneurial experience as an employee of Second Industrial Revolution, Inc., as well as founding Kukulinski Computer Services. He is currently completing his B.S. in Electrical & Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon. In his spare time, Ross is a devoted soccer player and fan as well as an amateur sports-photographer.
Patrick LaniganPatrick E. Lanigan has been responsible for the retail products of BeaconSys, Inc. He has three years of experience in developing assistive technologies for the blind. He is currently in the Ph.D. program in Electrical & Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon, where he is focused on embedded systems research. In his spare time, he is an avid snowboarder.
Geeta ShroffGeeta Shroff is one of the Lead Architects of Trinetran, the commute-planner product of BeaconSys, Inc. She has three years of experience in assistive technologies, working on solutions for literacy in developing communities, a wearable mobile assistant for diabetics and an indoor navigation system for the blind. She will be entering the Master's program in Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon, where she serves as the President of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Student Chapter. She is passionate about creative writing in her spare time, and has published "Melange... a Medley of Thoughts".
Hemant SikariaHemant Sikaria is one of the Lead Architects of Trinetran, the commute-planner product of BeaconSys, Inc. He is also actively working on other assistive technologies, including a gesture-recognition glove for the deaf that will interface to standard cell phones. He will be entering the Master's program in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, playing the guitar and challenging himself to attempt things that he is scared of.
Aaron PaulosAaron Paulos is completing his Master of Science in Information Networking at Carnegie Mellon University. He has three years of experience in software engineering and another three years of experience as a research programmer at the Electrical and Computer Engineering department of CMU. His research interests lie in embedded and enterprise distributed systems, fault-tolerance, and assistive technologies.
